Battery heated gloves are ideal for motorcyclists, skiers, fishermen, and snowmobilers, etc. The gloves are made out of different types of materials and generally come with a soft and warm insulation that also pads the gloves. Some models are waterproof and/or windproof. Most of them are also adjustable and come with a small lithium facts-ion battery in each glove that heats them up.
There are several types of battery in use at the present time and each must be treated differently. There are Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cad), Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Lithium-ion. Ni-Cad is old technology and hence only found in ancient handsets, so I will not be covering them in this article. NiMH batteries perform much better than Ni-Cad, typically giving 30% more talk time, but Lithium are thinner and give even higher performance. I will be concentrating on lithium facts-ion as it is the most used modern mobile phone battery to date. Check which type of battery your phone has before following any of the following.
Even the best solution has internal resistance, which it discharges through over time, thus that optimal 40% capacity drips away. Another thing Lithium-Ion cells absolutely loathe apart from heat and being overcharged is being fully discharged.
The mating lithium bettery stock process between the two engines can be in series or in parallel. When the two powertrains are mated in series, only one of the motors controls the cars movement. The other one simply assists the first, dominant engine. This occurs most often in mild or assist hybrids. The Saturn Vue Green Line Belt Alternator System (BAS) is a good example. The concept vehicle named the Volt from GM is another good example of a series (but not a mild) hybrid.
Briefly relating back to overall size... many lithium 18650's will differ ever so slightly in length (measured in millimeters). This is mainly due to an added protection circuit. The circuit helps to prevent the battery from over-discharging, since Li-ion cells can easily become damaged if their power is drained below a particular voltage. The protection circuit also prevents the cell from being over-CHARGED as well. These cells are very sensitive. They must be handled carefully, gently, and as described above, must never run-down too far, or be charged over and above their threshold. They can actually explode if severely mistreated!
